DaFiN Swimfins feature a silky smooth foot pocket which is soft over the top of the toes and foot to prevent blisters and chafing while the bottom of the pocket is rigid to transmit power to the blade. This is achieved through the use of all natural, high quality, 100% Malaysian Rubber (the best!).
Generally, Fin socks or booties are not required for comfort when using DaFiN Swimfins.
DaFiN Features a revolutionary design developed to create maximum power with minimum effort. The side “strakes” act to keep water from spilling off the outer edge of the fin on the down stroke. The strakes work in conjunction with a slightly elevated V-shaped foot pocket to create a chamber that allows maximum acceleration of the water flowing over the fin surface resulting in more thrust per kick.
To top it off, DaFiN is one of the lightest surf fins on the market. Less weight equals less strain.
Sure, we flow a few pairs to high profile ambassadors including Mark Cunningham (World Champion Bodysurfer), Zak Noyle (Professional Surf Photographer) and Brian Keaulana (World Renowned Hawaiian Waterman), but what we froth on the most, is that DaFiN has a cult following of bodysurfers and surf photographers (the guys who spend the most time in the water!) who wont wear anything else!
It ain't all about putting your life on the line! (or saving lives)
We reckon a pair of DaFiNs is essential for any beach day quiver..
They are ideal for a variety of uses including Swimming, Snorkelling, Bodyboarding, Bodysurfing and Water Photography.
DaFiN Swimfins are the Official fin of the United States Lifesaving Association, Hawaiian Lifeguard Association and is also widely used by Surf Lifesaving Australia.
They are also the #1 Choice among many other Water Saftey teams around the World.
If you need more reasons why, check out the endorsement DaFiN received from Chris Brewster, President of the United States Lifeguard Association.
Mark Cunningham (World Champion Bodysurfer, 29-year Hawaii veteran lifeguard on Oahu’s North Shore)
DaFiN is the only swim fin I use both professionally and for recreation. Power and comfort are the two utmost things I need in a pair of fins. DaFiN delivers on both and more.
Zak Noyle (Professional Surf Photographer)
I like to put myself and camera in the heaviest and scariest conditions in the ocean, I know I can trust my DaFiNs to get me in and out of these situations safely, as well as allow me to have the manoeuvrability to move in and out and not get sucked over while shooting out there. The blade of DaFiN has just the right amount of stiffness to maximize the thrust with each kick of the foot. I wouldn’t trust any other fin to get me out into the zone at 12 foot Pipeline and in safely again.
While it's Hawaiian in its name, DaFiN was developed by Andy Cochran, an Aussie who has made Hawaii his home for the past 35 years. Cochran had been a lifeguard at Australia’s famous Bondi Beach and was one of Oz’s early surfing pioneers. In the mid-1990’s, he created the initial design for DaFiN out of a wooden block. Fins were produced in Australia and then put to the test in Hawaii with world renowned Hawaiian watermen Mark Cunningham and Brian Keaulana. Mark and Brian shared a passion with Andy to develop a high quality swim fin for ocean lifeguards that was powerful, yet comfortable, and versatile enough to provide any user a level of safety in the ocean. Their invaluable input helped guide Cochran as he refined and retooled DaFiN from initial prototype to amazing product it is today. Also super cool to see the guys that were there from the beginning are still heavily involved with DaFiN
